Frequently Asked Questions

What is 101PD?

101PD ("101 Professional Development") is a Los Angeles, California learning platform with two kinds of products: free practice systems for public examinations (DMV knowledge, motorcycle, and CDL tests; U.S. citizenship civics — in English and Spanish), and professional courses (continuing education and license-exam preparation). Every course pairs a written treatise with scenario-based practice questions that explain every answer.

Are your courses approved for continuing-education credit?

We display credit eligibility course by course. A course qualifies for regulator-recognized credit only when its page displays the applicable provider or course number. Every other offering is professional training or exam preparation and does not issue regulatory credit.

Why is everything free right now?

Two reasons. The public-exam practice families (driver tests and citizenship civics) are free permanently. Eligible professional courses show their regular prices and may display a launch promotion at secure checkout. Access completed during the promotion remains in the learner account under the stated access terms.

Are your DMV and citizenship practice tests official?

No — and no honest practice site's are. Our practice materials are original study aids built from the official handbooks' subject matter and the underlying law. We are not affiliated with the California DMV, USCIS, or any government agency, and passing our practice tests does not guarantee passing the official examination. Question counts and passing scores on real exams are set by the agencies and change.

Do the Spanish versions match the English ones?

Yes — every Spanish question keeps the identical answer, source citation, and order as its English twin, so you can switch languages mid-study. For citizenship: the officer expects answers in English unless you qualify for an exception track, so our Spanish materials always show the English answer to say. For commercial drivers: federal law requires English proficiency of CDL drivers — our Spanish CDL materials are study support, not a substitute for that proficiency.

How do certificates work?

When you complete a credit-bearing course (including its final exam), we issue a certificate in your account name and, where the regulator requires it, report your completion. That's why your account name and license number must be accurate — certificates against wrong identity information may be invalid with your regulator.

What is your refund policy?

Simple version: full refund within 2 days of purchase on any paid course where you haven't yet passed a final exam or been issued a certificate. Duplicate purchases and problems on our side are refunded regardless of timing. Details and the per-product matrix: Refund Policy. Orders completed at $0 with a promotional code involve no payment, so no refund applies.

Do I need an account?

Not for the free practice families — read and practice freely. You need an account to save progress, take tracked finals, enroll in courses, and receive certificates.

How current is the material?

Every course is dated, and time-sensitive facts (fees, thresholds, officeholders, test formats) are flagged in the text with instructions on where to verify them. When the law changes, we update the course and note it in the course's change log.

Can I share my account or course files with a colleague?

No. Licenses are personal, and continuing-education completion must be your own work — regulators audit this, and so do we. If your firm needs multiple seats, contact us.

I found an error. What do I do?

Tell us — contact form. Verified corrections are fixed promptly and noted in the course change log. We'd rather be corrected than wrong.

How do I reach a human?

The contact form goes to a person, not a queue. We aim to respond within 1–2 business days.
