About 101PD
101PD — 101 Professional Development — is a Los Angeles, California learning platform for people who need a license, need to keep one, or need to pass the test that starts a career.
What we make
Every course on 101PD is written as two halves that work together: a treatise that teaches the rules the way a good instructor would — with the reasons behind them, because rules with reasons stick — and scenario practice banks that make you apply those rules the way real exams do, with full explanations on every question. No recycled question dumps, no copied government items: everything here is original work built from the primary sources — the codes, the handbooks, the regulations — and dated, so you know what edition of the world it describes.
Free where it should be free
License-exam preparation that the public needs — California DMV knowledge, motorcycle, and CDL practice, and U.S. citizenship civics — is free, permanently, in English and Spanish. We believe practice tests for public examinations shouldn't be behind a paywall. Eligible professional courses show their regular price and may also display a launch promotion for no-cost access at secure checkout.
Honesty is the product
Three commitments run through everything on this site:
- Credit eligibility is stated plainly. A course qualifies for regulator-recognized credit only when its page displays the applicable provider or course number. Every other offering is labeled professional training or exam preparation and does not issue regulatory credit.
- Practice tests are labeled as practice. Our government-exam study materials are original preparation aids — not official exams, and not affiliated with the DMV, USCIS, or any agency.
- Time-sensitive facts are flagged. Laws, fees, and officeholders change. Our materials date themselves and tell you what to verify with the agency before you rely on it.
Who we are
101PD was founded in Los Angeles by a practicing California attorney, and it runs on one editorial standard: publish only what we would be willing to be examined on ourselves.
